Jacksonville teen Talen Birt remembered for being inspirational during cancer journey

16-year-old Andrew Jackson student passed away Monday.

Jacksonville, Fl — We were introduced to a cancer warrior during the Careathon broadcast on August 20th. Talen Birt passed away on Monday.

He had originally been diagnosed with a type of bone cancer in 2019. Then in November of 2020 it metastasized to his lungs. Talen went through more chemo, and his mom Michelle said he was a Superman throughout the journey.

July 8th is when doctors gave the Birt family the news that Talen’s cancer journey would be in God’s hands. His father, Matthew, shared this message from his son during the Careathon broadcast:

“He said always stay positive and take care of your family and your friends and he looks forward to helping everyone”, said Matthew Birt.
