When students began arriving at Michigan Avenue Elementary school in St. Cloud, Florida on Monday morning, they were greeted by a 6-foot-long alligator blocking the building’s entrance, WFTV reported.

The St. Cloud Police Department shared pictures on Facebook, showing an officer wrangling the gator by the tail and the gator tied up in the back of a truck.

In its post, deputies said “Gary the Gator was found trespassing on school grounds this morning. SRO Burrows took Gary into custody before he was bonded out with strict instructions to never return to school property again!”

Video that appears to be from a security camera was posted to TikTok, showing officers working to catch the gator, which appeared irritated by the intrusion. The gator is not only seen snapping at officers but flipping itself around trying to get free.

Police told WFTV that the alligator was taken to a nearby pond and released.
