The series caused some controversy after an episode in which Hunter engages in premarital sex and loses his virginity, Variety reported. The episode resulted in thousands of letters protesting the subject, the entertainment news website reported.
Kerwin would appear in “Salem’s Lot,” the 1979 television miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, CNN reported. As Mark Petrie, Kerwin protected his small New England town against vampires, according to IMDb.com.
