DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — A Jacksonville woman initially thought she won $100,000 when she scratched off her $20 lottery ticket before heading into work one morning.
Wilma Todd, 69, told the Florida Lottery she was adamant about working her shift before making plans to claim her prize.

“After work, I picked up my granddaughter and handed her my ticket. She turned to me and said, ‘Nana, you didn’t win $100,000 – you won $1 million!’ needless to say I was in complete shock,” Todd said.
Todd played the $5,000,000 CASHWORD scratch-off that she purchased at Jones Road General Store located on Jones Road near Commonwealth Avenue. The Florida Lottery said she chose to claim her winnings in a one-time lump-sum payment of $780,000.
Most people say they wouldn’t return to work after coming into a large sum of money, but Todd said she will. The 69-year-old plans to continue working at her job until her replacement is fully trained.

Once that happens, she is excited about retiring and spending time with her family.
The store will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.
