Headed to hottest day of the year, so far

Forecast high of 96 degrees, feel-like temps over 100

Jacksonville, FL — We could be in for the hottest day of the year with the forecast high of 96 degrees and ‘feel-like’ temps well above 100.

Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says some areas will see at least a chance for relief in the way of rain and storms.

“Tendency to move from west to east and they will be strong in spots. Not everybody getting rainfall yet today but there’ll be some scattered locally heavy storms”, Buresh said.

Storm coverage increases through the rest of the week, so that everybody will get at least some rain by the start of the July 4th weekend.

The tropics are quiet overall. A weak area of low pressure has developed off the Carolina coast and will move away from land. There is a low probability this will develop and will be no threat to land.
