LEXINGTON, Ky. — Six people, including four children, were killed on Saturday in a two-car crash on a Kentucky interstate, authorities said.
According to the Lexington Police Department, the crash occurred at 12:23 EDT on Interstate 75, WKYT reported.
Authorities said a dark-colored car entered the northbound lanes of I-75 driving in the wrong direction. The driver, a 38-year-old woman, hit a white car head-on around mile marker 102, WLEX reported.

One child in the front passenger seat of the white car was pronounced dead at the scene, the television station reported. The driver of the white car and three other children were taken to an area hospital, where they died from their injuries, WLEX reported.

The Fayette County coroner has not released the names of the people killed in the crash, the television station reported.
The highway was shut down for several hours but was reopened by 4 p.m. EDT, police said.
