Bill Cosby intentionally sexually abused teen in 1975, civil jury finds

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — A Los Angeles County jury found Tuesday that Bill Cosby sexually abused a 16-year-old girl in 1975.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the 84-year-old comedian was found guilty of sexually abusing Judy Huth at the Playboy Mansion in the mid-1970s.

Huth came forward publicly with the allegations in 2014 after recognizing anxiety and depression caused by the alleged assault, according to The New York Times.

Jurors found that Cosby intentionally caused harmful sexual contact with Huth, reasonably believed she was under 18, and that his conduct was driven by unnatural or abnormal sexual interest in a minor.

The verdict was expected last week but had been sent back to deliberations by Judge Craig D. Karlan.

Huth, who is 64, was awarded $500,000.

According to The Associated Press, Cosby did not attend the trial or testify in person. Clips from a 2015 video deposition were played for jurors instead. In the video, he denied any sexual contact with Huth.

He continues to deny the allegation through his attorney and publicist.

Huth’s suit is one of nearly 70 lawsuits against Cosby, claiming he drugged and raped women since the 1960s.

In 2015, Cosby was arrested in Pennsylvania on charges that he sexually assaulted a woman in 2004. He was found guilty in 2018 on the charges and sentenced to nearly 10 years in prison.

After serving nearly three years, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned the conviction.

Cosby was freed last summer
